Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Winsford-based SEN school that supports pupils from EYFS - KS4 with complex and profound SEN as they are looking to recruit motivated and reliable teaching assistants for long-term full-time contracts. Part-time options are available if required.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with a variety of diagnosed SEN including ASD, non-verbal, learning disabilities and other profound needs. You will have the opportunity to work in a class from EYFS - KS4, with each class consisting of a class teacher and 3 teaching assistants, with the largest class consisting of 11 pupils. You will take a person-centred approach to education to ensure that each pupil's individual EHCP, needs, personality and attainment needs are met in a stimulating and engaging learning environment. You will offer intervention and booster sessions on a 1:1 and small group basis, as well as aid in behaviour management by implementing and utilising positive behaviour techniques including "Now & Next", sensory rooms and traffic light systems. As you will be supporting non-verbal you will also utilise PECs and other communicative aids.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • Experience using PECs and/or Makaton
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience supporting SEN within a school setting is preferred, but residential experience will also be considered
