Your new companyHays Recruitment are happy to announce that we are working in partnership with an extremely supportive and prestigious Winsford- based SEND school that is Ofsted rated "Outstanding" as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support the KS1 classes. This is a full-time long-term temporary postilion with hours consisting of 8:45am - 3:45pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the KS1 (key stage 1) classes on a required basis. You will offer 1:1 and group support to pupils with a variety of SEN (needs consisting of ASD, non-verbal, behavioural and sensory needs) across the KS1 classes, tailoring your approach to best suit pupil needs and liaising with teachers to ensure all support is in line with attainment and EHCP needs. Across all classes, your focus will be behaviour support as a number of pupils can present challenging behaviours. You will work with the class teachers and other teaching assistants to implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies that pupils best respond to. This school currently uses brain breaks, DOJO and sensory play/therapy but is keen to get a fresh face to further develop behaviour strategies. Other duties will consist of phonics/SALT assessments, liaison with SENCo/parents/guardians on pupil progress, mobility support, and lunch/break time responsibilities.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work in the UK". As this school is looking for an experienced teaching assistant, you must also have a minimum of 40 days referenceable school experience within the last 2 years. Other desirables include:

  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience delivering phonics and/or basic SALT
  • Experience using PECS and/or Makaton
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
