Education Personnel are working with a secondary school located in the beautiful town of Matlock. We are seeking a highly organised and efficient Exams Officer to join the administrative team on a full-time, fixed-term basis until July 2025. (Opportunity for a permanent position for the right candidate).

This is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient administration of all internal and external examinations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organising, and administering all aspects of internal and external examinations, in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g., AQA, EdExcel).
  • Managing the secure storage and distribution of examination papers and materials.
  • Liaising with examination boards, staff, students, and parents regarding examination entries, timetables, and results.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of examination entries and amendments.
  • Creating and managing examination timetables and rooming arrangements.
  • Supervising examination sessions, ensuring adherence to regulations.
  • Processing and disseminating examination results.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date examination records and databases.
  • Training and supervising invigilators.
  • Responding to examination-related queries from staff, students, and parents.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in examination regulations and procedures.
  • Assisting with other administrative tasks as required.

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has proven experience in an administrative role, ideally within an examination setting in a secondary school or similar environment.
  • Possesses excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Has strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Is proficient in using IT systems, including databases and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Is able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Has a thorough understanding of examination regulations and procedures (e.g., JCQ guidelines) is desirable.
  • Demonstrates discretion and maintains confidentiality.
