The School and Role

As a Teaching Assistant at this Ofsted rated ‘Good’ Primary School in Birkenhead, you will be an integral part of the dedicated intervention team within this school, who put the children and young people at the heart of everything they do.   This role is full-time and based in KS1, supporting small group phonics and numeracy intervention sessions with children who are working at a lower ability.  For this reason, the school would like to meet someone who is adaptable and their approach and who has varied experience.  

You will support the class teacher to promote positive behaviour, understanding the learning objectives, content and intended outcomes for the learning activities in which students are involved.  You will also be supporting monitoring student progress reports.  You will be part of a key team around the individual children in order to maintain consistent support, communication and updated support plans.  You will also have additional responsibilities around the school as part of your role.

Requirements

Desirable for this Teaching Assistant role:

-          ability to confidently run phonics and numeracy sessions in KS1

-          A passion for the progress of primary school pupils

-          An ability to work as part of a team

-          Have, or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
