About the role

Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Wirral, office based

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing cost estimates for new projects, including materials, labour, and other resources, helping to set budgets and cost expectations.
Help with the preparation of tender documents and support the evaluation of bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring value for money.
Support the senior surveyor in managing project contracts, including handling variations, claims, and payments, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
Conduct site visits to carry out measurements and assessments, gathering accurate data to inform cost analysis and project planning.
Assist with the preparation of regular cost reports and monitor project progress to ensure that costs are controlled, and any potential financial issues are flagged early.

Experience

A degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, a relevant vocational qualification will be considered.
Ability to analyse data, assess costs, and generate accurate reports.
A keen eye for detail is essential to ensure costs are well managed.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and clients.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are a must.
A basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Prior experience in the construction sector is an advantage, but not essential.
Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and other project management software.
