Job Title: Cover SupervisorLocation: Wisbech, CambridgeshireReports To: Deputy Head Job Purpose:

The Cover Supervisor will supervise and support students in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring a positive and effective learning environment. This role involves delivering pre-set work, maintaining classroom discipline, and supporting the school’s academic and pastoral ethos.

Key Responsibilities:1. Classroom Supervision:
  • Supervise lessons in the absence of a teacher, ensuring students remain on task.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions provided by subject teachers.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
2. Supporting Learning:
  • Encourage and assist students with their work when needed.
  • Foster a positive and focused classroom atmosphere.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student engagement and progress.
3. Behaviour & Classroom Management:
  • Uphold high expectations of student conduct and enforce school rules.
  • Manage classroom transitions and ensure a structured learning environment.
  • Address minor behavioural issues and report concerns to the relevant staff.
4. General School Support:
  • Assist with administrative tasks when required.
  • Supervise students during break and lunch duties as directed.
  • Support school events and extracurricular activities as needed.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience as a cover supervisor, teaching assistant, or in a similar role.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • An understanding of the secondary school curriculum.
Working Hours & Salary:
  • [ Term time only, Monday - Friday Full Time
  • £130+ a day
