Company, Project & benefits of a Quantity Surveyor 

Our client, a property maintenance company, is currently looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor to work in Wisbech and surrounding area. You will be working on a repairs and maintenance contract in social housing carrying out reactive maintenance works.


Duties & Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor: 

  • Ability to understand and contribute to the development of technical drawings and specifications
  • Controlling all expenditure
  • Reconciling cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • Ensuring value for money and financial assessments
  • Managing day-to-day cost control and monitoring and reporting

Desirable Experience of a Quantity Surveyor: 

  • Possess a strong commercial acumen and a wealth of experience within the residential new build and social housing sector
  • Knowledge of reactive and planned maintenance
  • Comprehensive understanding of subcontractor procurement and cost management.
  • Strong experience with Schedule of Rates, subcontractor management, valuations, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of building regulations and Health & Safety legislation

Qualifications & Skills of a Quantity Surveyor: 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ Quantity Surveying experience
  • BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of pricing planned work and/or repairs and maintenance
  • Proven commercial professional with experience in social housing reactive maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience of SOR codes
  • Understanding of the CVR process
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and contractual awareness
  • Negotiating, communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must

There will be an element of travel required, so you must have a full valid UK driving licence.
