In partnership with a specialist school, we are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the team as soon as possible.

This is a temporary position initially, but an excellent ‘foot-in-the-door’ opportunity, where you could gain a permanent role within the school further down the line.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.30pm term-time only.

About the School:

  • The school caters for students with additional needs, which include: Sensory and Physical Impairment, Cognition and Learning Needs such as SLD, MLD, SpLD, GDD, Communication and Interaction Issues, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Purpose-built for children and young people from 4-18 years.
  • Smaller class sizes, with approx.. 8-10 students as a maximum.
  • Increased staffing and support, with a Class Teacher and at least 2 support staff per class.

Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:

  • Providing individual and group support to students with complex needs i.e., Autism, Down’s Syndrome, ADHD.
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and resources as necessary to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Supporting students in accessing sensory activities and therapies.
  • Liaising with parents and carers as required.

Qualifications and Experience (Desirable, but not Essential):

  • Experience of working with children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND.
  • A positive and caring attitude, with the ability to provide support and care to students.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
