We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for our client based in Ely. You will be developing custom automation and special purpose machinery, interpreting the needs of customers, providing innovative solutions within challenging timescales and budgets.

Responsibilities:
* Ensuring all design and development work is carried out to a high quality, within given budgets and on time
* Operating within a team environment, supporting other members of the team
* Confidently working through the development life cycle (design, build, test and delivery), taking ownership to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
* Supporting Development Team members with the use and administration of SolidWorks
* Maintaining the Engineering Change Request system
* Using 3D and 2D CAD design tools to produce individual drawings and drawing packs for machine assembly, producing BOM's and purchasing parts as required
* Working to BS8888 and other quality standards

Requirements:
* Degree, HNC or approved apprenticeship and a competent user of 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
* A good understanding of materials, motion control, robotics, sensors and drives, structures and dynamics and how these are used in machine design
* Experience with the full development life cycle (design, build, test and delivery)
* Excellent IT literacy
* Good written skills and confidence communicating with customers and team members
* Willing to travel occasionally to customer sites (mainly UK based)
