This pivotal role calls for an experienced leader in democratic services to oversee three vital areas:

  • Democratic Services: Facilitate smooth and professional council operations, from meetings to decision-making processes.
  • Civic Team: Uphold the dignity and traditions of the Mayoralty, delivering high-profile ceremonial events.
  • Elections and Electoral Registration: Lead on ensuring compliance with electoral law and the flawless execution of elections.

As a key player, you’ll manage teams, influence decision-making, and support the Director of Law and Governance in delivering the Council’s vision and priorities. With a £2 million budget under your direction, you’ll have the resources to make a real impact.

This is your opportunity to shape governance, build relationships with elected members, and lead from the front. You'll also act as Deputy Returning Officer and support the Director as needed on governance matters, including stepping into the role of Monitoring Officer when required.
