OverviewA unitary authority nestled deep in South Essex is looking to recruit a Project Manager to lead on the delivery of critical service design and business change projects supporting the council's transformation agenda.Key responsibilities
- Project Delivery: Manage and deliver projects from start to finish within time, quality, and budget constraints.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and project board members.
- Project Control: Ensure clear governance by managing project tolerances and utilising project standards and tools.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate internal and third-party resources for successful project delivery.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks with appropriate controls and escalation.
- Documentation & Communication: Deliver high-standard project documentation and communications.
- Project Planning: Develop and own detailed project plans to monitor and track progress.
- Project Leadership: Lead all project stages and development plans.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress and take corrective actions as needed.
- Reporting: Provide regular project reporting and updates.
- Budget Management: Manage project budgets.
- Dependency Management: Ensure dependencies on other projects are identified and managed.
- Transition Management: Manage the smooth transition of projects into operational business as usual.
- Strategic Alignment: Ensure projects reflect corporate strategic aims and deliver benefits.
- Quality Assurance: Provide quality assurance, project health checks, and performance monitoring, reporting to senior management as required.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience managing the end-to-end delivery of complex non-technical service design or operational/business change projects in a public sector organisation to a variety of customers, leading complex, high-profile, time-dependent projects to successful delivery.
- Experience working in a local authority or the wider public sector (NHS, health, blue light services) will strengthen your application.
- Excellent knowledge of project management tools and techniques, including stakeholder management, planning and dependency management, issue and risk management, and budget and resource management.
- Ability to manage resources in a matrix environment, coordinate and motivate others, which is essential to the success of this role.
- Experience in change management and business/operational readiness.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Competence in financial management.
- Excellent MS Project skills and the ability to create robust project schedules with a traceable critical path
