About the Role:

Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team is recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Essex for an enthusiastic non-qualified Litigation Lawyer. This role offers the unique opportunity to be mentored and trained in a range of litigation work, with a focus on professional growth within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Litigation Support: Assist with a diverse caseload that includes both criminal and civil litigation matters and work on housing litigation, regulatory prosecutions, and civil disputes

Legal Drafting: Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, notices, and other essential case management materials under supervision.

Case Management: Organise and manage caseloads effectively, ensuring adherence to court timetables and efficient use of resources.

Mentorship & Development: Receive structured training and guidance to develop into a highly skilled litigation lawyer and while no advocacy is required, opportunities to be coached in advocacy skills will be provided.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with the legal team and contribute to a high-performing department.

Role Requirements:

  • This position is ideal for non-qualified lawyers or foreign-qualified lawyers looking to transfer their qualifications through the QLTS scheme.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and a strong interest in litigation.
  • Local government experience is not required, as the focus is on training and developing a fresh perspective.
  • Full-time availability is essential. Once proven, there may be flexibility to explore part-time or compressed hours arrangements.
