Job Overview: Thurrock Council is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Children's Safeguarding Lawyer to join our friendly and supportive legal team. The successful candidate will undertake stimulating and rewarding work, helping to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children's safeguarding matters.
  • Provide high-quality legal advice and representation in safeguarding cases.

  • Provide legal guidance to the council's social work teams to support the best outcomes for vulnerable children.
  • Represent the council in hearings and proceedings relating to children's welfare.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a strong background in children's safeguarding law.
  • Proven experience managing safeguarding cases and providing legal advice.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently, while also being a strong team player.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality service to vulnerable children and young people.

Desirable:

  • Local Government experience would be an advantage, although not essential.
