Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Secure Mental Health Services team at Essex Partnership NHS Trust. In this role, you will provide specialist assessments and interventions, supporting patients, carers, and families to improve their quality of life. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess and treat patients in secure service wards, ensuring the best rehabilitation and discharge outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients admitted to the Secure Service wards using specialist assessments.
- Determine appropriate levels of treatment intervention for complex cases.
- Develop, communicate, and negotiate treatment plans with patients and their carers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team colleagues and external agencies to ensure effective patient care.
- Conduct manual handling assessments and educate professionals and carers on best practices.
- Modify environmental factors to support patient independence and functionality.
- Coordinate with Social Services and Housing Organizations for equipment provision and home adaptations.
- Manage a complex caseload, ensuring high standards of occupational therapy practice.
- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health settings.
- Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating a range of conditions.
- Ability to develop and implement effective rehabilitation and discharge plans.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of recent CPD with the ability to reflect on clinical experiences.
- Experience with community-based pathways is advantageous.
