Assistant Psychologist – Community Partnerships- Essex

Salary: £25,704 per annum

The National Probation Service (NPC) and Essex County Council (ECC) has partnered with St Andrew’s Healthcare to deliver Community Sentence treatment Requirements as part of a pilot programme for male and female offenders across Essex. This is a unique opportunity to work as an assistant psychologist embedded in Essex probation offices under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists from St Andrew's Healthcare.

Within this role you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Criminal Justice System (CJS); providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the psychologist and within the overall framework of Essex CC, NPS and St Andrew’s policies and procedures.

Applicants should have a relevant Master’s degree in psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. However, we will also consider applicants who do not have a Master’s degree although have relevant working experience.

The role will be located across the County of Essex; the successful candidate will work within probation offices across three different locations. In addition, you will be occasionally required to travel to Northampton for training, induction and other meetings.

You will facilitate effective communication within ECC, the NPS and other agencies that may include: primary care services, specialist mental health services, social care and third sector services to ensure continuity of care across all services.
