Position Available: Space Systems Engineer
Location: Essex
Experience needed: We are looking for an established systems engineer who has experience across the full systems V lifecycle within a complex project environment e.g. defence, aerospace or space. Any experience working in the space industry or on opto-mechanical design would be an advantage.
About the role
We are a leading aerospace company at the forefront of innovation in the industry. We are currently looking for an established Systems Engineer to provide clear technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from design and development to verification.
As the main technical point of contact with the customer, you will manage requirements, maintain compliance verification matrices, and guide the team through major gate reviews. You will generate Engineering Management Plans and provide governance to ensure project delivery is aligned with risk assessments.
The role will also involve managing sub-contract work packages, overseeing configuration control, and ensuring compliance with ECSS standards for Front-End Electronics and Payload Systems. In collaboration with the bid team, you will contribute to system bids and write technical proposals, driving both technical risk mitigation and opportunity capture throughout the project.
What we need from you:
- Good Systems Engineering experience within a complex environment such as aerospace, defence or space
- Broad knowledge across the full systems V lifecycle
- Experience of being the technical leader of a complex project and the ability to guide it from concept to delivery
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to manage customer expectations
- Good technical presentation and document writing skills
- Any experience within the space industry and working to ECSS standards would be a bonus
