Classroom/Learning Support Assistant

  • Job Type: Part-time- Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Join a Grade 2 Training Provider based in Essex, as a Classroom/Learning Support Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and educate young people at our new centre in Grays OR Clacton upon Sea starting from ASAP. With over 25 years of experience, we are one of the largest private training providers in the UK, offering a wide range of apprenticeships and learning programs.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support students with their academic and personal growth by fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assist teaching and delivery staff in planning and delivering sessions/activities tailored to individual learner needs.
  • Promote independence, equality, diversity, and respect among students.
  • Support student progress on both group and individual bases.
  • Aid in the development of studentsā€™ social skills.
  • Manage classroom activities and maintain classroom registers.
  • Report learner absences to parents/guardians and other organisations involved in the studentsā€™ care.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching resources and classroom management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting young people.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience supporting teachers/tutors in a classroom environment, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Sensitivity and understanding towards the needs of young people.
  • Ability to create optimal conditions for learning or teaching new things.
  • Good communication skills, with a minimum grade 4 (or equivalent) in both English and Maths.
  • Proficient ICT skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must have a DBS check or be willing to complete one.
