Exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic, well organised Purchasing Manager to join a growing, ambitious business in Witham, Essex. Friendly working hours (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri) and excellent pay (up to £40k, dependent on experience).

Key Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

  • Oversee and develop the Purchasing & Logistics team
  • Build on and execute the buying strategy across all product categories, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and objectives
  • Provide strong stock holding in all three warehouse locations ensuring that desirable stock levels are maintained as efficiently as possible
  • Create and maintain excellent, strong relationships with vendors negotiating continually to achieve more favourable terms and maximise margins
  • Produce reports routinely on the departments efficiency including but not limited to lead time from suppliers to three warehouse locations, Stock aging reports, stock movement insights and stock transfer suggestions to optimise storage capabilities
  • Ensure data on items on the system is kept up to date to ensure efficient and accurate running of purchasing administrative tasks such as but not limited to the Requisition Worksheet
  • Routinely review supplier service and maintain a supplier performance log ensuring reviews are made
  • Review, negotiate and monitor existing vendor contract agreements
  • Liaise with both Sales teams and vendors to be able to offer attractive project prices to customers for projects
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to understand future stock requirements anticipating future demand to ensure timely acquisition of product portfolio
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to stock procurement and develop risk mitigation strategies, proactively addressing issues to minise disruption to timelines and budgets

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Either purchasing or supply chain procurement qualification essential
  • Solid experience in key Buyer role/Purchasing management role essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and stock planning system desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills
  • Ability to collaborate with different teams and use own initiative
  • Positive, can-do attitude, with drive to be successful
