Our client is an established market-leading property and technology service provider which is digitising the complex process of buying, selling, renting and renovating housing in the UK. A Certified B-Corp, Clients are public sector organisations and real estate investors. The company is now looking for an experienced Senior Financial Controller as they take their prop-tech platform to a wider B2B market beyond the public sector markets they are familiar with. There are also future ambitions to roll the platform out to a wider B2C market.

The company is at a stage of significant scale up with contracts secured to deliver a 5-fold increase in services over the next 2 years. This growth in demand means they are looking to recruit into all areas of the business including a Financial Controller to lead the accounting function and help steer the company through this exciting phase of growth.About the Role:

Reporting to the CEO, the FC will be responsible for all day-to-day financial matters, including reporting, budgeting, and growing the accounts team, which is currently made up a single part-qualified Management Accountant. Additionally, the FC will need to be review pricing strategies, tenders, and RFP approaches, and evaluate business units/activities to meet budgets. This role is ideal for a genuine self-starter with the ability, potential, and a thirst to learn and grow as the company does.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management Accounts: Lead the delivery of monthly management accounts, managing key stakeholders and gaining Senior Leadership sign-off.
  • Team Leadership: Grow and manage a small accounts team in the UK and India, leading them to deliver day-to-day financial tasks and the overall Finance Roadmap.
  • Budget Process: Build the overall individual business unit budgets, establish reporting processes, and perform periodic reforecasts.
  • Core Finance Processes: Handle revenue management and reconciliation, cash flow, treasury, and FX management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Constantly review and improve financial processes and procedures, documenting these as appropriate.
  • Annual Accounting Processes: Manage the year-end accounts process and statutory account drafting.
  • Banking Relationships: Maintain the relationship with banks, ensuring efficient banking processes that support growth. General Capabilities
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement process improvements.
  • Customer Data Excellence: Understand and report on data trends, maintaining accurate data on all systems.
  • Personal Development: Engage in personal development and training to enhance role effectiveness and deliver team training when required.
  • Legal and Regulatory: Maintain records in line with legislation, particularly HR, GDPR, AML, and Health and Safety.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent), ideally from a SME/mid-sized company background.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting and finance.
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of integration across different business processes, software, and databases.
  • Experience of residential real estate, including Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of SaaS Prop-Tech would be equally desirable but not essential.
  • Available to start at short notice: Immediately available/max 1 month

Please note due to the fast paced growth the company is experiencing, this role will need to be a full time role, working from the office in Woking, Surrey Monday – Friday.
