Dalton Recruitment is partnering with an exciting household name to secure a new Employee Relations Advisor to work closely with the HRBPs and support the People Director to deliver a first class HR advisory service across it's UK operations.

The Employee Relations Advisor will provide support, advice, coaching and guidance to people leaders and colleagues across the business in relation to HR policies and procedures, employee relation issues and organisational change. The successful candidate will manage and own end to end ER case work, escalating to the HRBPs as appropriate and supporting them through the resolutions with work varying from (but not exclusively) absences and occupational health, performance management, flexible working requests, grievances and disciplinaries.

In this newly formed role, the Employee Relations Advisor will build and develop relationships with leaders and colleagues at all levels to provide the required support and guidance and being a true HR generalist, there will be additional projects to own whilst maintaining a detailed eye over the day-to-day activities of the department.

The role attracts a base salary, dependant on experience, up to £50,000 + package and is offered on a permanent, full-time basis with a hybrid model in place working 3-4 days in their central Woking offices with 1-2 days from home. Some expensed travel to other UK locations will be required in line with business needs.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Support with HR Administration for general queries and colleague life cycle.
  • Champion the completion of good quality mid-year and annual appraisals and supports any gaps in learning needs through supporting the Talent, Learning & Organisational Development Business Partner.
  • Delivers and supports the business on a wide range of People projects.
  • Supports the interview and selection process and contribute to the decision-making process relating to the most appropriate choice of candidate for appropriate job bands.
  • Manage the production of People data and case management from appropriate systems to enable different audiences to understand the position and where improvements are being made and more focus is required.
  • Create and maintain an ER dashboard to ensure that the People Business Partners can use the data to report on relevant KPIs.
  • Champion best practice, role model our principles and lead by example.
  • Ensure personal behaviour promotes cultural change and reflects the values/behaviours and principles of the business.
  • Be involved with employee engagement activities, including mental health, surveys & wellbeing initiatives and employee engagement surveys
  • Support the HRBP’s with the central cultural change activities.
  • Support the People Director with ad hoc projects & activities.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation and case law.

Skills & Experience to be Considered:

  • Experienced, pragmatic professional with a demonstrable track record of managing large programmes of management activity
  • Managing large-scale / complex employee relation caseload
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload within a complex environment and multiple stakeholders
  • Able to establish credibility at all levels to influence and guide management on all issues
  • Previous experience of managing within a unionised environment
  • Knowledge of employment legislation
  • Excellent computer skills including word and excel and HR systems (Oracle would be advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way
  • Experience of working with employees at all levels
  • Experience of dealing with challenging situation where emotions may play a part
  • Ability to empathise whilst maintaining professionalism
  • CIPD qualified Level 5 (essential)
