Our client based in Woking, Surrey is looking for an experienced Assistant Finance Manager.

This role plays a crucial part in the company's financial operations. You will be responsible for various financial tasks, requiring meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.Duties and responsibilities:

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present monthly management reports on Revenue and overheads, including variance analyses
  • Deliver weekly sales and order book reports to key stakeholders

Project and Month-End Accounting:

  • Manage project accounting for all subcontract and application projects where revenue is recognised based on % of completion, taking full ownership of project accruals, leading the project meetings to reconcile and close accrued revenue.
  • Full ownership of month end timetables from setting the deadlines to period closure.
  • Communicate and enforce the month-end timetable, delegating tasks to team members as needed.
  • Post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and deferred revenue and other if required.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register and post monthly depreciation in line with company policy.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the validity of all assets and liabilities.

Year-End and Ad Hoc Support:

  • Complete all year-end requirements, submissions, and support activities, including audit and IFS procedures, on time.
  • Assist the Head of Finance with ad hoc tasks to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Lead AP team with clearing aged creditors balance.
  • Work with AR to ensure revenue recognition is accounted for.

Payroll:

  • Prepare and submit monthly payroll for review in compliance with company policy ensuring accuracy and adhering to strict deadlines.

Business Partnering:

  • Prepare, present and support medical department with monthly financial actuals vs targets.

Skills and Experience:

  • Studying or desire to study for professional qualification
  • Proactive attitude and keen to learn
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in using IFS system would be an advantage
  • Ability to work as part of a team
