Our client is a specialist consumer lender based on traditional values and clear strategy for growth and seek a Financial Accountant, who will report to the CFO . The role involves budgeting, planning and preparing MI for GAAP and Financial reporting to the FCA. The role will also include preparation of MI for Board Packs requiring advanced Excel skills. There is one direct report; a senior analyst who will require mentoring. The role is office based 5 day/week and they are located near to Woking Station.

Responsibilities of the Head of Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of monthly Management Accounts, Investor Reports, Data Tapes and MI Pack, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls over financial and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Managing the preparation of the monthly audit file, which includes all Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to interpret variances, trends, and key metrics to aid management decisions.
  • Preparation of consolidated accounts and annual report for all group companies.
  • Prepare disclosure notes for the annual financial statements and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and support the Senior Finance Analyst with FINREP returns.
  • Manage the production or review of tax returns and ensure timely quarterly tax payments.
  • Supervise and support the Senior Finance Analyst, ensuring professional development and departmental goals are met.
  • Engage in system, process, and control improvements to ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Streamline financial reporting processes to enhance efficiency and improve the quality of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting and accounting laws and regulations.

Requirements for the Head of Financial Reporting

  • Excellent Excel, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial accounts, including knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS 9.
  • Experience in corporation tax matters.
  • Regulatory reporting experience, including knowledge of FINREP.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate direct reports.
  • Qualified accountant with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within financial services.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of core banking systems and accounting systems.
  • Willing to learn and develop in the role itself and through additional accounting training.
  • Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills.
