Job Summary: part-tme 2-3 days per week
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Part-Time Financial Controller/Management Accountant/Head of finance to join our clients Finance and Accounting team. This role will focus on managing key accounting functions, ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations, and providing reliable financial insights. The ideal candidate is not expected to perform all of the listed responsibilities but should possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities within a part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS standards.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
- Month-End Close: Lead and support the month-end close process, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting.
- VAT & Tax Compliance: Prepare and file VAT returns, liaising with HMRC as needed, and ensure compliance with UK tax regulations.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Budget & Forecasting Support: Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, providing variance analysis to support financial planning.
- Audit Support: Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial controls.
- Ad-Hoc Reporting: Provide ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as required to support management decision-making.
- Cash Flow Reporting: Deliver insights into cash inflows and outflows across all operational divisions within the company.
- Credit Control: To support internal credit control procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the travel sector, though not essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, currently Xero, migrating to Procon; strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis functions.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and VAT regulations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: Highly organised and capable of managing time effectively within a part-time schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Experience in an audit or compliance role in the UK
- Knowledge of travel industry accounting standards
