Our client is a non-profit organisation working with people to support their health and wellbeing.  Established for over 30 years, they have provided services alongside a variety of statutory and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) colleagues in Surrey and its boarders. They believe change is achievable when offered by a flexible, respectful, inclusive and a non-judgemental approach.  They are currently looking for an experienced ESOL or CELTA or TESOL or TEFL Teacher to work within the Shifa team for 6 hours per week    Salary: £20 per hour    Hours: 6 hours a week (Camberley – Wednesdays 1pm – 3pm / Woking on Thursdays and Fridays 10am – 12pm) Duration: Permanent Company Benefits:  26 days annual leave pro rata (rising with service) + bank holidays + 1 extra days leave on your birthday, Pension, Access to Simply Health, Blended working, Employee discount programme and more….. Location – Woking and Camberley Shifa network has been around since 2003.  It was initially a social / drop-in group for women who were living with long term mental health issues and had nowhere to turn for help.  Shifa’s purpose is to empower Asian women with mental and emotional health issues to integrate into mainstream society with improved self-confidence and raised self-esteem.  It provides a safe and secure place where women can socialise and access support without feeling stigmatised.  Shifa also supports local immigrant women suffering from domestic abuse, anxiety and depression.   As a ESOL Teacher you will deliver ladies only classes in Camberley and Woking, planning learner centred lessons tailored to the needs of women from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.  It is key you foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring that learners feel comfortable and confident participating in lessons.  6 hours a week, on a Wednesday you will be in Camberley from 1pm – 3pm and on a Thursday and Friday you will be in Woking 10am – 12pm   This post is subject to a DBS check.  Please note past drug and/or alcohol or criminality history will not necessarily discount you from undertaking this roleOur ideal applicant will have/be;  
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g CELTA / TESOL / PGCE / ESOL / TEFL or equivalent)
  • Proven experience teaching English as a foreign language ideally within the community 
  • Strong understanding of the methodologies and adult learning principles
  • Excellent communication skills, able to interact well with students
  • Caring and empathic nature, able to create a positive and supportive learning environment
