Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: Based near Woking, SurreySalary: Circa £34,000 per annum + production bonusHours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 5 days on-site per weekAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering company. This role involves designing and developing precision mechanical products, working through all stages of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. The position is hands-on and requires a proactive problem solver who can work both independently and as part of a team.Working closely with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and external consultants, you will design high-quality products using plastic mouldings, die castings, and machined components while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine mechanical designs from concept to production
  • Work with plastic mouldings, die castings, and machined components
  • Conduct tolerance studies, numerical design calculations, and FEA analysis
  • Collaborate with suppliers, toolmakers, and internal teams to ensure manufacturability
  • Ensure designs meet quality, performance, and cost requirements
  • Document design decisions and highlight technical risks
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry advancements
What You Need
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience designing precision mechanical assemblies and intricate mechanisms
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably PTC Creo)
  • Knowledge of FEA analysis and tolerance calculations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
