Test Rig EngineerLocation: Woking (onsite)Shift: Days – 40 hoursType: Permanent

Purpose of the RoleThe Test Rig Engineer will play a key role within the Vehicle Development team, working on-site in Woking five days a week. This hands-on position involves defining and executing tests using factory-based servo-hydraulic test rigs to support multiple vehicle projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Test Rig Engineer

  • Plan and select appropriate equipment to perform required tests, collaborating with engineers and technicians to determine the optimal approach.
  • Maintain accurate records of test set-up configurations and recorded data.
  • Define and execute a variety of tests, including fatigue, prototype component, and material tests.
  • Schedule and manage workloads across multiple vehicle projects, balancing conflicting demands.
  • Ensure test data safety through proper backup, synchronisation, and sharing protocols, and maintain software updates and configurations.

Education

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Demonstrable broad knowledge of servo-hydraulic actuators and their control systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience operating hydraulic actuators in a test and development environment. Familiarity with MTS equipment and control software is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop and create tests for new technologies where no existing standards apply.
  • In-depth technical knowledge to support new technologies, engineering design development, and problem resolution.
  • Understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
  • Proficient in IT, with strong competency across multiple software packages and platforms.
