Ward/Dept: Inpatient Therapies

Shift Pattern: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8-16

The Inpatient Rehabilitation team are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join their MDT to undertake advanced assessments and treatment of patients.These patients often have complex and / or chronic presentations. It will be your duty to ensure that the individuals full potential and functional independence is developed or maintained. You will work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision but access to a Team Lead OT is available if required and clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

Some of the main responsibilities of this role include the following:

· To communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in a patients care, both those from within the organisation and those outside to ensure effective multidisciplinary working. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning.

· To achieve and maintain a high standard of clinical intervention and professional development using evidence-based practice CPD and appraisal.

· To manage patients who may be occasionally aggressive or confused.

· To be able to manage potentially stressful, upsetting, or emotional situations in an

· empathetic manner.

· To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multipathologies.

· To understand the underlying cause of difficulties with clients who have specific needs and utilise strategies for managing challenging behaviors and communication with supervision.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

· HCPC registration

· B.S.C Hons or diploma equivalent in OT

· Post qualification experience in a variety of rotations or settings including NHS in-patient work

· Clinical experience with a wide range of client groups including any of the following:

- rehabilitation, hospital, community, elderly, neurology, orthopaedics,

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of:

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable
