The School:

This trauma-informed school for children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, is set in Woking, and offers significant learning opportunities for children aged 7-16. The team are happy, vibrant and take a restorative approach to supporting their students! You must be open-minded, keen to embrace challenges, and looking for an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the lives vulnerable children with additional needs.

Role of Secondary SEN / SEMH Teacher:

As a SEN / SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging Maths or English lessons to small classes of children (8 max) with SEMH needs. You will teach the class across subjects and provide them with the learning they need to make good progress. There is a high staff to student ratio, and the school has a deep focus on addressing the educational, social and therapeutic needs of students, focusing on individual happiness and wellbeing, where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Many children have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences, face barriers in life, and are more 'at risk' of negative outcomes. You will be instrumental in providing consistency, equipping children and young people with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life. You will have the ability to create interactive, therapeutic, and meaningful lessons, helping children reach their full potential.

Requirements for SEN / SEMH Teacher:

  • QTS/QTLS OR have relevant experience as a teacher
  • Professional or personal experience working with vulnerable children, with additional needs, challenging behaviours, or mental health needs
