Reed Education is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. We provide a therapeutic and child-centred education for pupils aged 11 to 17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), alongside other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is ideal for resilient, persistent, and solution-focused individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex and challenging behaviours.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Support teachers in the classroom and work with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • Manage classroom resources and assist in organising trips and visits.
  • Provide social support by engaging with children during lunch and other social activities.
  • Handle heightened behaviours, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Participate in a variety of educational activities, from playing board games to conducting science experiments.
  • Contribute to therapy sessions and reflect on challenging periods with students.
  • Be actively involved in decision-making processes that impact the school and advocate for the needs of every child.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in supporting children with SEMH and SEND, such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
  • A non-judgmental, flexible, and consistent approach to child support.
  • Strong resilience and the ability to remain solution-focused.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex behaviours.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in therapeutic and educational practices.
