Reed Education are supporting a beautiful independent specialist school in Woking. We are seeking a dedicated Mathematics Teacher to provide high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education to pupils aged 11 to 17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), among other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Day-to-day of the role:- Deliver engaging and effective mathematics lessons across various curricula including Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE.
- Build professional, nurturing, and positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and motivations.
- Plan exciting and challenging learning opportunities that are real and relevant to the students.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours with attention, consistent communication, flexibility, and a non-judgemental approach.
- Collaborate with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, and local authority teams to secure outstanding outcomes for students.
- Contribute to the development of both the academic curriculum and extra-curricular activities, bringing personal interests and passions to enhance the school’s offerings.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Mathematics.
- Experience working with children with SEMH and other SEND is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
- Strong commitment to child-centred and therapeutic teaching approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
