Reed Education are supporting a beautiful independent specialist school in Woking. We are seeking a dedicated Mathematics Teacher to provide high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education to pupils aged 11 to 17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), among other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver engaging and effective mathematics lessons across various curricula including Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE.
  • Build professional, nurturing, and positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and motivations.
  • Plan exciting and challenging learning opportunities that are real and relevant to the students.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviours with attention, consistent communication, flexibility, and a non-judgemental approach.
  • Collaborate with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, and local authority teams to secure outstanding outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to the development of both the academic curriculum and extra-curricular activities, bringing personal interests and passions to enhance the school’s offerings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH and other SEND is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Strong commitment to child-centred and therapeutic teaching approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
