Role Overview:

Commercial Lead - Post-Contract Award, Nuclear Construction Infrastructure

To lead and manage the commercial function of nuclear construction infrastructure projects post-contract award. Responsible for ensuring commercial compliance, managing financial performance, mitigating risks, and driving value optimisation throughout the project life-cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all commercial activities post-contract award, including contract administration, financial management, change control, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial performance against targets.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, project policies, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks while maximising value and minimising costs.
  • Manage and negotiate variations, claims, and final account settlements with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure commercial strategies align with project objectives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Support procurement teams in the negotiation and finalisation of subcontracts and supplier agreements.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports, including cost/value reconciliations, project forecasts, and profitability assessments.
  • Lead commercial meetings, contributing to strategic decision-making and problem-solving.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional membership with RICS, ICES, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in post-contract commercial management in the construction or infrastructure sector, preferably within nuclear or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, and other standard forms of construction contracts.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale, complex projects, including contract negotiation, cost control, and dispute resolution.
  • Proficiency in commercial software and financial management systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
