This Specialist SEN School is seeking an experienced candidate, to play an active role in managing behaviour of SECID students (Social, Emotional, Communication and Interaction Difficulties) on a day to day basis. The post holder will support the Team Leader in implementing ongoing behavioural interventions, ensuring effective communication is maintained throughout the school.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Report to the Support Team Lead.
  • Effectively communicating complex information to staff/pupils/family members/carers, regarding personal, psycho/social problems in an empathetic way
  • Using inter-personal and de-escalation skills in challenging situations, i.e.; an agitated pupil
  • To provide care, support and guidance to students
  • Being a positive role model for the youngsters
  • To work collaboratively alongside parents, stakeholders & outside agencies
  • Supporting the Team in ensuring all staff have adequate skills, knowledge and resources

Applicant Requirements:

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of behavioural interventions (e.g.; positive and negative reinforcement)
  • Ability to be a positive part of a successful team
  • Calm and positive attitude towards pupils & school life
  • Ability to engender a feeling of control & security within the classroom
  • Keep up to date with training and skills in IT & Data protection
  • Participate in Audit Projects
  • Adhere to standards of record keeping
  • Develop student action plans
