Our wonderful client are looking for a precise and dedicated Finance Assistant to join their team. This is a great role that will get you involved in all the day-to-day finance operations and requires a keen eye for detail when ensuring that financial processes are accurate and efficient. This role will be supporting with the accounts receivable, bookkeeping and some accounts payable for the business.

This role is fully office-based in Wokingham, Berkshire. The salary on offer is £28,000-£32,000 with some fantastic benefits. Due to the location of the role it is essential to be a driver.

What will I be doing in the Finance Assistant role?

  • Ensuring integrity of financial records
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Assisting with customer invoicing, follow-ups, and account reconciliation.
    • Assisting departments with credit control for cash flow management.
    • Sending statements to customers and assisting with legal debt recovery.
    • Completing Credit checks on new and existing customers.
    • Processing card payments and Direct Debits and setting up refunds to customers.
  • Bookkeeping:
    • Assisting with general ledger entries and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
    • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Data Entry & Financial Reporting:
    • Input financial data into accounting systems, maintain databases, and assisting with the preparation of monthly and annual reports.
  • Bank Reconciliations:
    • Reconciliation of Bank statement entries across multiple bank account and posting of cash entries on a daily basis.
    • Reporting of the daily cash position to the Senior Team
  • Expense Management:
    • Review, verify, and process employee expenses in compliance with company policies.
  • Payroll:
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly payroll for submission.
    • Posting of payroll journals into the General Ledger
  • Financial Analysis Support:
    • Assist the finance team in budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
    • VAT returns and CIS submissions.
  • Documentation & Filing:
    • Maintain accurate and organised records all financial documents.
  • Audit Support:
    • Assist in preparing documentation and records for internal and external audits.
  • Administrative Support

What skills and experience are needed for the Finance Assistant role:

  • Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent finance-related certifications.
  • Experience in a similar finance or accounts role.
  • MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
