Criminology Graduate Role (LSA) - Wokingham
Immediate Start - Full-Time
Autism Specialism & Complex Needs
Are you a recent Criminology Graduate seeking a graduate opportunity? Do you have a passion for supporting vulnerable children facing mental health challenges? Are you able to be a positive role model?
A unique mental health-focused school in Wokingham is looking for a Criminology Graduate to join their team as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), starting as soon as possible. As an LSA, you will work with children dealing with childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, attachment disorders, and PTSD. You will provide emotional and therapeutic support, guiding them through their school day and helping them succeed both academically and personally.
The majority of students at the school have complex mental health needs and come from challenging backgrounds. The school adopts a therapeutic approach in the classroom, and you will play a key role in implementing this, helping students develop resilience and engage in their education. Collaboration with Teachers, Speech Therapists, and Occupational Therapists will be essential to ensure the safety and well-being of each pupil.
The ideal candidate for this Learning Support Assistant role will be compassionate, approachable, and passionate about working with vulnerable children. You will bring positive energy to the classroom and act as a strong role model for the students. A Criminology or Psychology graduate is ideal for this position.
As a Criminology Graduate, you will be able to apply your knowledge to understand student behavior, identify triggers for negative behaviors, and recognize underlying learning challenges. This role will provide you with first-hand experience working with children who are at risk of criminal influence, giving you the opportunity to learn de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies. This practical experience will set you apart from other graduates and provide a solid foundation for pursuing further studies or a career in Criminal Justice.
