A highly regarded Specialist School inWokingham is seeking a committed SEMH Behaviour Mentor to work with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need extra support, both academically and emotionally.

  • Pay: £83 - £95 per day (depending on experience)
  • Long-term temporary position with potential for a permanent role
  • Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • Previous experience is preferred but not required

As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, your main focus will be to support students with challenging behaviour and emotional difficulties. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide both 1:1 and small group support. Your duties will include:

  • Helping students develop social skills and emotional regulation
  • Assisting in managing classroom behaviour and implementing personalised behaviour plans
  • Offering a safe and nurturing environment for students struggling with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and other behavioural challenges
  • Working alongside therapists and educational psychologists to provide tailored support
  • Supporting students both in and out of the classroom to help them engage with their learning

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in helping children with emotional and behavioural challenges. While experience working with SEN or SEMH students is highly desirable, it's not essential-what's more important is your dedication and enthusiasm for supporting young people. A background in Psychology, Criminology, Counselling, or Social Work is sought after.
