Specialist SEN Mentor - Wokingham
Immediate Start - Full-Time
Autism Focus & Complex Needs
Are you passionate about supporting mental health? Do you have a genuine interest in helping children overcome emotional challenges? If so, this role in Wokingham might be perfect for you!
A welcoming, inclusive school in Wokingham is seeking a Mental Health Support Mentor to work with pupils facing a variety of mental health challenges. The school is eager to hire someone who is patient, enthusiastic about education, and dedicated to making a positive impact on young lives. This position is available for an immediate or as-soon-as-possible start.
The pupils at the school face difficulties regulating and processing emotions due to past trauma, which can lead to issues like anxiety, stress, attachment difficulties, and depression. As a Mental Health Support Mentor, you'll help these students manage their emotions and create a trusting, supportive environment. Your role will also involve collaborating with the class teacher to assist with classroom activities and tasks.
The ideal candidate for this position will be resilient, adaptable, and ready for a challenge. Flexibility and the ability to tailor your approach to meet the individual needs of each child are essential. While prior experience with children who have mental health needs is beneficial, it's not required-what matters most is enthusiasm, a proactive mindset, and a positive attitude!
This role is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates looking to pursue a career in mental health, education, or social care. You'll gain invaluable experience working with children who have complex social, emotional, and mental health needs, and you'll be prepared for future roles as an educational or occupational psychologist, therapist, counselor, teacher, or within the criminal justice sector.
