Rubicon Consultingis currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer on a Permanent basis located in Wolverhampton.

Role Summary

As a Commissioning Engineer (C3), you will manage a range of Commissioning activities over the full lifecycle of bespoke Engineering projects and represent the commissioning function to customers and other departments within a nuclear OEM.

Using solid Engineering knowledge, you will extract the relevant information from specification and design documents to write, develop and follow project Commissioning strategies on niche engineered solutions for the nuclear industry and take ownership of your assigned packages of work with pride, delivering for a key player in the nuclear market.

Responsibilities

  • Support tendering for new projects by estimating hours required to complete the expected commissioning work and what is included and excluded from that estimate.
  • Creating project commissioning strategies for new bespoke projects and to review and ensure they are implemented during the lifecycle of the project.
  • Develop test and commissioning documentation as required by the commissioning strategy for a specific project. This may include pressure tests, proof load tests, control panel inspections, setting to work documents, safe systems of work, factory and site acceptance test documents.
  • Manage the turnover from manufacturing to commissioning and assessing if equipment is ready for commissioning, and from commissioning to manufacturing once in-house commissioning work is satisfactorily complete.
  • Prepare for and complete factory and site acceptance testing, including ensuring risk assessments are created and followed, any test equipment required is available, fitting any temporary commissioning aids required for testing and completing all testing as per the factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing procedures.
  • Identify faults or non-conformities during testing, reporting issues using business procedures and supporting in the resolution of issues.
  • Ensuring work is completed within the required timeframe and that any deviations from the timeframe or project requirements have been communicated with the project manager, always being aware of your allocated budget. -Ensuring that test work is design and carried out in the safest way possible.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

  • HNC Qualified (or Equivalent) or Higher.
  • Extensive Engineering Workplace experience.
  • Broad base of experience in the operation of mechanical and or electrical equipment.
  • Appreciation of relevant British and European Standards. Such as BS7671 for electrical engineers.
  • Ability to adapt when situations or equipment changes.
