Role Purpose

As a Commissioning Engineer (C3), you will oversee a range of commissioning activities throughout the lifecycle of bespoke engineering projects. Representing the commissioning function to customers and internal departments within a nuclear Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), you will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing commissioning strategies on tailored engineering solutions within the nuclear industry. You will take ownership of your assigned work packages, ensuring their successful delivery while contributing to a key player in the nuclear market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Tender Support: Estimate hours for commissioning work and define scope for new projects during tendering phases.
  • Commissioning Strategy: Create and implement commissioning strategies for bespoke projects, ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documentation Development: Develop necessary test and commissioning documentation, including pressure tests, control panel inspections, setting-to-work documents, factory and site acceptance tests, and safe systems of work.
  • Manufacturing Turnover: Manage the turnover process between manufacturing and commissioning, ensuring equipment is ready for commissioning and vice versa.
  • Factory & Site Testing: Lead factory and site acceptance testing, including the creation of risk assessments, setup of temporary commissioning aids, and completion of tests in line with procedures.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and report faults or non-conformities during testing, collaborating with internal teams to resolve them efficiently.
  • Project Coordination: Ensure work is completed within allocated timeframes and budgets, promptly communicating deviations to the project manager.
  • Safety: Ensure all testing activities are designed and executed in the safest manner possible.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and relevant standards.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Qualifications: HNC (or equivalent) or higher in an Engineering-related discipline.
  • Engineering Experience: Extensive experience in engineering, with a broad understanding of mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with British and European standards, such as BS7671 (for electrical engineers).
  • Adaptability: Able to adjust to changes in situations or equipment with ease.
