Design Engineer Position Available in Wolverhampton, West Midlands!

We are proud to be working with a leading manufacturing business in Wolverhampton to help them recruit a Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to projects within the engineering sector, specifically focusing on metal stamping and fabrication - the hiring manager would like someone who has come from a similar industry.

Based in Wolverhampton, the role offers a competitive salary up to £40,000 per annum, a 35-hour workweek with early finishes on Fridays, a quarterly bonus, and a pension scheme.

What You Will Do:

  • Design innovative fixtures and tools for new product introductions.
  • Assist the estimating and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams with forming analysis for metal stamping and press brake forming.
  • Develop fixture concepts to support the estimating team with quotations.
  • Maintain and optimise site layouts for operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with customers to enhance design for manufacture (DFM) processes.
  • Provide design and technical drawing support to the toolroom and production engineering teams.

What You Will Bring:

  • A degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Proven experience in designing fixtures and tools using 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Fluency in using 2D software packages and a strong understanding of technical drawings and standards.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially metal stamping, machining, and welded assemblies.
  • Experience with forming FEA for metal stampings and CAM software for CNC machining is highly desirable.
