The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of engineering projects. You will utilize your mechanical engineering expertise to contribute to various stages of project design and administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile, monitor, and update project plans and status reports.
  • Manage engineering and procurement project files, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for specific projects, including drawing and parts list release and modification.
  • Support the procurement, build, and test phases of projects with technical insights.
  • Generate project procurement lists and raise RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Monitor the procurement process and ensure timely progress on project deliveries.
  • Oversee goods inwards approval and assignment of received items to relevant projects.
  • Undertake additional project duties as assigned by Senior Management.
Qualifications
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 5, ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4), or City & Guilds T4/T6 in Mechanical Engineering, with a supporting EITB Approved Apprenticeship.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and an analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Proven experience in design, project administration, and engineering.
Experience
  • Ideally, 5+ years in a Mechanical Design or Manufacturing Environment.
Skills
  • Good level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or other solid modeling software is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical and practical concepts clearly.
  • Team player with a flexible and adaptable working style.
