ATA Recruitment are working closely with one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of special-purpose machines, including coil processing equipment and programmable dynamometer test rigs. Their innovative solutions serve a range of sectors, including academia, aerospace, automotive, food, industrial assembly, material processing, rail research, and testing & verification.

They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic engineering design team. This role involves working collaboratively with the design team to produce innovative designs for a wide range of automated special-purpose machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bespoke machinery design and a deep understanding of material handling systems.

 

The Role: 

The successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for Producing designs for a wide range of automated special-purpose machinery, working under the Design Manager as part of the engineering design team. 

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer’s key responsibilities will be to: 

• Produce designs for a wide range of automated special-purpose machinery

• Produce mechanical and material calculations

• Diagnosing modifications and improvements to existing equipment

• Ensure design & manufacturing feasibility of client’s request

• Provide guidance and support to junior engineers

• Manage design projects from concept to completion 

 

The Candidate:

To be successful in your application for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role, you will need the following:

• An engineering qualification

• CAD software experience 

• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients

• Excellent understanding of engineering principles

• Relevant industry experience, ideally with special purpose machinery, coil processing industry, or material handling.
