As a Senior HR Business Partner, you will play a key strategic role in aligning HR practices with the university's objectives. You will provide expert HR advice, lead transformational change initiatives, and work closely with senior leadership to support organisational growth. This is an exciting opportunity to influence HR strategy and drive impactful people initiatives within a complex and evolving academic environment.

Description

  • Partner with university leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support institutional goals.
  • Provide expert advice on talent management, employee relations, workforce planning, and organisational development.
  • Drive initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to foster an inclusive university culture.
  • Lead change management processes and support leadership in embedding cultural and structural transformation.
  • Manage complex employee relations cases, ensuring compliance with employment law and university policies.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance staff engagement and well-being.
  • Use HR analytics to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of people strategies.
  • Mentor and support HR colleagues, contributing to professional development and knowledge sharing.




Profile





  • Proven ability to horizon scan, identify opportunities, challenges, and inform key decision-making, seeing the bigger picture.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, persuasion, and networking skills to work effectively at the most senior levels within and outside the university.
  • Ability to build credibility, trust, and respect with academic and professional colleagues, internally and externally.
  • Significant experience of Trade Union negotiations.
  • Significant evidence-based experience of academic workforce planning in higher education.
  • Experience of modernising pay frameworks in higher education.
  • A strong knowledge & understanding of employment legislation and its application in a large, diverse, and complex organisation.
  • An understanding of the UK higher education sector and the issues currently facing universities.
