Summary

Moseley Old Hall may be a small property on paper, but it has a big ambition to continue to grow as a visitor business and develop its outdoor offer.  We wish to be relevant to our local audiences through events and offering the first opportunity to visit the outdoors.

The team are dedicated and enthusiastic about what they do, and their leader needs to be that too.

What it's like to work here

Moseley Old Hall is part of the West Staffordshire portfolio. You'll lead a team of 11 dedicated staff and over 80 volunteers. We also have a successful 2nd hand bookshop and tearoom.

You'll be on the Duty Manager rota at the property, which provides 7-day cover for the visitor operation throughout the year. Weekend working, at least one a month plus support on bank holidays is required.

What you'll be doing

You'll manage the visitor welcome, experience, outdoors and conservation teams on site, and ensure that their respective projects andprogrammes of work are happening and being shared with our visitors and volunteers.

You’ll ensure that departments collaborate on delivering the visitor business, a high-quality visitor experience and that Moseley continues to deepen relationships with existing audiences and work to bring new audiences in.

Working with the property team you’ll lead for developing an offer that is innovative, engaging and resonates with our local audiences, you will also leadon growing our visitor numbers, ensuring we are maximising potential revenue streams and maintaining financial sustainability.

You’ll support Moseley’s Stable croft project which seeks to improve access and engagement in the outdoors.

You’ll be confident with compliance, ensuring our site is safe and everything is in place for this, and you’ll work with contractors on various compliance and maintenance tasks.

Who we're looking for

  • experience and enthusiasm of managing a fast paced operations 
  • experience as an inspiring leader and a great people manager, with a track record of leading diverse professional teams
  • great collaborator and communicator skills, with the ability to be decisive 
  • an understanding of the importance of great service, growing support for an important cause, and the presentation standards 
  • good understanding of compliance, health and safety, and the management of emergency procedures
  • some experience of business planning, developing and growing income, and budget management
  • a commitment to ensuring experiences are welcoming to everyone, with experience in improving accessibility in a workplace or visitor experience
