Team Manager, £41ph, Front-line Child Protection, WolverhamptonPertemps are recruiting for an experienced Team Manager to join the Multi Agency Child Protection Team in Wolverhampton.The postholder will manage a team of 16 Lead Child Protection Practitioners who will be responsible for all children open to child protection planning and all new child protection enquiries. The Team Managers within the MACPT will be the direct line managers for the team and hold responsibility for all child protection and pre proceedings work with children and their families.Main duties/ responsibilities:
  • Ensure the provision of a high-quality and effective social work service to meet the needs of children and families, safeguarding them in line with statutory guidelines.
  • Represent the service in multi-agency forums and contribute to the development of policy and practice in Children’s Services.
  • Fully integrate the social work service within the wider Children’s Services to promote positive outcomes for children and their families.
  • Act as a champion for restorative practice within the service.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to set objectives, develop plans, allocate resources, and mobilize staff to meet those objectives.
  • Understand the team’s position within the wider Council and local authority responsibilities.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures based on statutory guidance, local policies, and the needs of children and families.
  • Monitor the progress of strategy and plan implementation, and report to senior managers and other forums.
  • Motivate staff to understand their roles within the broader Council and ensure alignment with service goals.
  • Safeguard children through effective interventions combining risk management and restorative practices.
  • Provide line management, supervision, and appraisal of senior social workers and social workers.
  • Oversee casework, ensuring high-quality assessment, planning, and reviews, and proper documentation in case files.
  • Manage the team’s budget within the context of service budgets, ensuring adherence to financial procedures.
  • Ensure that social work practices are evidence-based and supported by research, with this reflected in case records.
  • Be accountable for key decisions across Children’s social care under delegated authority.
  • Act as a Practice Educator and assessor to promote professional practice within Children’s Social Care.
Role requirements:
  • Experience of complex social work with children and families.
  • Involvement in leading and developing specialist areas of practice and securing colleague support.
  • Significant post qualification experience.
  • Experience of a wide range of statutory practice environments in Children’s Services and of diverse responsibilities.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff within accountability frameworks.
  • Social Work England (formally HCPC) recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registered
  • Evidence of continued professional development in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework.
