Our client has an exciting opportunity for an Estimating Engineer to join their team. In this role, you would be responsible for supporting the engineering function to provide estimates for new engineering product through the business using Lean and best practise methodology. Experience within a Precision Engineering, Aerospace or Automotive capacity is desirable for this role.
Key Accountabilities
- Estimating CNC machined parts, ensuring quotes are produced in a timely manner.
- Producing accurate stage drawings for manufacturing operations
- Producing detailed documentation, set up packs, SOP's etc.
- Preparation of cost estimates to support the acquisition of new business to include relevant requirements.
- Supporting production with daily problem solving, ensuring permanent solutions are put in place.
- Creating CNC/CADCAM Programs for CNC Turning and Milling machines, including 4 & 5 Axis machining centres.
- Manage New Product Introduction/NPI and ensure components are delivered on time and within budget.
- To assist if required with planning and design of the manufacturing process.
- Help to drive continuous improvement programs within the department.
- Quote job requests for lead-time and costs.
- Assist with the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop
- Assist with the continuous improvement and continuous reduction of waste.
- To closely support the operational team including programming CNC Milling and Turning machines to meet customer demand.
- Design and introduce process documentation, inline with the company BMS.
Knowledge Required
- Experience of CNC machining in a precision engineering environment.
- High level of CNC programming competency in Fanuc/Heidenhain languages.
- Must have Manufacturing Engineering experience in both turning and milling capabilities, ideally up to 5 axis (3+2) with strong knowledge of setting, operating, and programming.
- Experienced in 3D modelling, preferably with Solidworks and Visi.
- Offline programming, familiarity with VISI CAM package highly desired.
- Must have knowledge of tooling and fixtures in addition to lean manufacturing principles, to aid process improvements and efficiencies in machining capabilities.
Essential
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience within Aerospace & Automotive
- Able to use and Adapt to different CAD/CAM packages
- Able to operate and set different machines tools
- Computer literate MS Word, Excel.
- Experience of APQP/PFMEA
- Knowledge of machine Inspection Techniques
- Demonstrable Knowledge of ISO9001 & AS9100 Standards
