Are you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for innovation and problem-solving? Cooper Lomaz are delighted to be working with a global treatment company who are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading design house, ensuring mechanical compliance and excellence across multiple projects in the water treatment sector.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of engineering projects. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Design & Customisation: Design and customise water treatment equipment as per project specifications, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with Project/Engineering Managers to establish schedules, meet deadlines, and manage engineering costs.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as the Mechanical Engineering interface between customers and suppliers throughout the project life cycle, including proposals, design, manufacture, installation, and commissioning.
  • Supplier Management: Create RFQ packages, evaluate quotes, support contract negotiations, and oversee the technical aspects of supplier deliveries.
  • Documentation: Manage, review, and issue technical documents, including design calculations, data sheets, and drawings.
  • Quality Assurance: Attend and validate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at supplier premises, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Field Support: Provide technical support to field engineers and customers, including occasional site inspections.

Requirements:

  • MSc / MEng or BSc / BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Water Technology or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with British and International Standards (e.g., ASME VIII, B31.1, B31.3) and experience with exotic materials used in seawater desalination projects.
  • Ability to perform fluid hydraulics calculations, structural design and analysis, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks, and MS Office programs. Experience with Bentley Systems (STAAD.Pro and AutoPIPE) is a plus.
  • Membership (or working towards membership) in a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IMechE) is highly desirable.
  • A positive and agile attitude, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
