Lecturer - Games Design
  • Job Type: Temporary, Part-time (21 hours per week)

We are seeking a temporary Lecturer in Games Design, with potential opportunities for a permanent role in the future for the right candidate. This role requires a deep understanding and competency in various aspects of game design and development.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions in Games Design, focusing on 3D modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering, and game engine integration.
  • Utilise 3D modelling software such as 3DS Max and MudBox to teach students the core aspects of game asset creation.
  • Guide students through the texturing process using Adobe Photoshop & Substance Painter, emphasizing the PBR workflow.
  • Introduce students to lighting and rendering techniques specific to game development.
  • Teach level design theories and workflows, particularly using UE5.
  • Manage and mentor students in esports activities including branding, graphics design, and team management for cross-school/college leagues.
  • Ensure all course content is up-to-date and relevant to current industry standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling software (3DS Max, MudBox).
  • Strong understanding of texturing, lighting, and rendering in a gaming context.
  • Experience with game engines, particularly Unreal Engine 5.
  • Knowledge of level design theories and practical workflows.
  • Experience in esports related activities such as team management and content creation.
  • Ability to conduct research and apply academic writing in contextual studies.
  • Must hold an enhanced Child DBS certificate or willing to get one.
  • Right to work in the UK (Passport required).
  • Provide at least two references, with one available at the start.
