HGV Workshop Manager

Wolverhampton

Circa £50,000 per year

40 hours per week – Permanent

Role Overview:

Our client is looking for an HGV Workshop Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be managing the daily operating of the workshop. Managing the workshops budget and monitoring the performance and conditions of the fleet. You will be controlling the schedules and ensuring parts and supplies are readily available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring efficiency and productivity when daily managing the operations of the workshop
  • Scheduling and planning repair and maintenance work to boost efficient and reduce downtime
  • Ensuring all work meets safety and regulatory controls within the workshop whilst being completed to a high standard.
  • Ensuring all supplies and parts are available – working along side the procurement supervisor to manage inventory levels
  • Ensuring all HGVs are meeting legal and safety standards, keeping in compliance with department of transport regulations.
  • Keeping accurate documents of service histories and part used.
  • Monitoring performance and condition of the fleet
  • Managing the workshop budget, including labour, parts and overhead costs.

Person Specification:

  • Looking after a workshop and managing a team
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of HGV systems
  • Able to be responsible for keeping updated on latest advancements and best practices in HGV maintenance
  • Able to independently identify and manage risks which could impact the operational safety of the company.
  • Have open communication with the Group Operations Director to recognise the potential risks/opportunities.
  • Overseeing recruitment and selection
  • Management of annual leave, staff absence, payroll and relevant authorisations
