Our client, a large food processor, are now recruiting for a Production Planner who will be responsible for ensuring that products are produced on time and at the lowest cost by optimising the use of staff and materials.

You'll be involved in overseeing the production and distribution process to ensure smooth operations, with full ownership and development of the Production Scheduling System in a busy production environment.

You'll be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, as you'll be liaising with both external and internal customers and updating them on product progress. You'll also need to have strong data analysis and evaluation skills as you'll be analysing orders and assessing raw material availability to ensure orders can be fulfilled on time.

This is an interesting role which includes the following duties:

  • Creating and maintaining daily planning schedules
  • Coordinating with the production team to execute daily plans, and providing clear, regularly monitored production quantities.
  • Oversee and maintain the daily scheduling system, ensuring alignment with operational goals and supporting Production Managers in achieving targets.
  • Review customer orders and accounts to guarantee accurate and timely submission of financial data.
  • Approve materials, costs, equipment, and workforce requirements for the manufacturing process to ensure smooth operations.
  • Contribute to the development of operational plans and participate in monthly forecasting sessions to align production goals with business strategy.
  • Communicate manufacturing performance to stakeholders, offering insights and analysis of operational outcomes to drive improvements.
  • Extract, organise, and analyse production data, presenting it in a clear format to support informed business decisions.
  • Pursue continuous development of technical and communication skills through self-study and training initiatives.
  • Receive and assess customer orders promptly, evaluating production capacity and communicating order fulfilment requirements to the production team.
  • Create detailed production plans that align with operational capabilities, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Coordinate with customers, ensuring accurate order fulfilment and providing end-of-day performance updates.
  • Collect and analyse data on production performance and team efficiency, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare comprehensive production reports for senior management, offering actionable insights and suggestions for enhancing overall efficiency.

You'll be a team player, with excellent administrative, organisational and planning skills. Using Excel doesn't phase you and you'll have a general knowledge of costing, budgeting and financial processes, excellent data analysis and evaluation skills, with the ability to identify problems and offer recommendations.

This role has a working schedule of Tuesday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm.
